Self-Tacking Systems

Seldén’s Self-Tacking systems makes life on board a lot easier, in particular for short handed crews. The jib sheet is led to a car which moves to leeward during the tack with no need to touch the sheet. Tacking is as simple as steering the boat through the wind. 

  • The self-tacking car is black anodised, extruded aluminium. It runs on Torlon® ball bearings.
  • End fittings are glass fibre reinforced composite with rubber buffer bearings.
  • AISI 316 mirror finished stainless toggle.
  • A low friction ring or a "Tie-on" block can be fitted to the "Tie-on" car.
  • The toggle/sheet block is supported by a rubber stand-up collar.
  • Suitable max size of control line is Ø8 mm.
  •  End controls with rubber shock absorbers.
